Keyos switched off his computer after going over the SD card. He glanced up at his brother to find a worried look in his violet eyes.

The card included dozens of pictures of the black Persians but most of them were of young Persians at play. They were caught in partial shifts as well as full ones.

“He was close to their den, Keyos,” Zan murmured. “For the black cats, that’s a killing offense.”

On top of that, he had pictures of Daisy and a few of her friends. He’d also been out to the lake lodge where Daisy’s family and their friends socialized.

The card also included documentation of their race from when they’d first landed here.

“Show Chapin some of the footage whether he agrees to meet with me or not,” Keyos said. “They need to know someone knows they exist—” A knock at the office door cut him short. “Come in.”

The door swung open and Rhys stood there wearing a mask of consternation.

“What is it?” Keyos asked. “Problem with the site?”

“No, it’s been sanitized, but Dade is here to see you with the two fed boys,” Rhys told him.

“Fine. Show them in.” He looked at Zan. “Take care of it as soon as they leave, and tell Rhys to check those boys out more thoroughly. I need to know who that detective got those files on us from.”

The door swung open before Zan could reply, but his advisor gave him a nod of understanding before turning his gaze on their visitors. “What’s going on, Dade?” Zan said as the men filed in.

Dade introduced the federal agents Lowell and Smyth before saying, “I have a reason to believe one of our victims was killed here on your grounds. I have a warrant to search.”

“We didn’t know the victims,” Zan said. “And if anyone had been killed here we’d know it.”

“Do you have any pets?” The cool comment was more a dry accusation from the tall, dark-haired Smyth.

“No,” Keyos retorted. “Why?”

“The coroner said it looked like a wild cat killed Ewan Michaels,” Dade told them calmly.

“Damn,” Zan said, snapping his fingers. “I knew that cat didn’t have indigestion from eating grass.”

Rhys smirked but Keyos shot Zan a warning look before saying, “Help yourself. Look all you want. I just don’t understand why you think the man was killed on our grounds though.”

“We have a soil sample, and we think we might have come from here since it doesn’t match the dirt from the park,” Smyth confessed. “Michaels and Kimble thought they had proof of alien life. They first came across him in Central Park. Have you been to New York lately?”

“I was there buying seeds along with my younger brother Kelphan,” Keyos answered tonelessly. “Neither of us are aliens. So, we weren’t looking over our shoulders for alien hunters. Why didn’t he just come to you, Dade, if he suspected one of us of being other than human?”

“It’s a question I have yet to get answers to,” Dade replied. “But don’t you boys go taking any trips until we clear this mess up.
